Bass Hofner Violin

Overview of this Hofner Violin Bass

This is a rare instrument! There bass Hofner Violin takes its name from the resemblance to a violin.
It was popularized by the Beatles. It was Paul McCartney who played on it. His no longer had a pickguard towards the end and was a left-handed model.

Work completed

A good revision in the program for this venerable old lady.
Cleaning, checking of mechanics, checking of electronics, checking of screws. Then cleaning the neck, hydrating and maintaining the fingerboard, polishing the frets, checking the fret leveling.
Finally, polishing the microphones, fitting new strings, adjusting the neck and bridge. Here, it’s a floating easel. It is therefore a slightly more complex adjustment than a fixed bridge.
All that finished, we take some photos, plug it into the amp and test it!!

Conclusion

We really find this typical sound of the 60s! The real Beatles sound! And yet, by playing a little with the settings we manage to bring it out of the register in which we have confined it. Amusing.
And it’s light, the handle is very pleasant. In short, an instrument that lives up to its reputation 🙂
