Ibanez TMB30 Bass
A special instrument has passed through the Esprit Guitare lutherie workshop! 🙂
It’s an Ibanez TMB30 bass. The particularity of this bass (apart from the fact that it is very pretty 😉) is its pitch. Yes, a rare thing for a bass, it’s a short scale: 30 inches, hence the name of the model.
The result is a bass with unusual and very pleasant proportions, light weight and a more nervous sound than a traditional bass.
And as I often say: a new instrument can be fixed! This is what the owner of this pretty Ibanez wanted, who came to the workshop to have it adjusted, even before removing the protective plastics 🙂
Brand new, I tell you!!
As a result, partial fret leveling (yes, the frets installed in the factory will always be a little more irregular than work by hand…), a simple precision adjustment on the neck (truss rod not tight enough, as often) and a good adjustment of the saddles for low action and perfect intonation.
When tested, it goes quickly, it slaps nicely and it’s really nice!! 🙂
I want one!!!
