They always have their little effect! Steinberger’s legendary Headless basses are instantly recognizable.
This Steinberger XT-25 bass in 5 strings went through the Esprit Guitare workshop for a revision and adjustment session. In fact, the ultra-high action made it almost unplayable.
Work completed
We go through the traditional “complete overhaul” pack that you are starting to know:
Cleaning and polishing, checking the electronics, checking the screws, checking the mechanics, checking the fret leveling, polishing the frets, hydrating and maintaining the fingerboard, installing new strings, adjusting the neck (truss-rod), adjusting the action and intonation (at the saddle level).
Conclusion
She didn’t become legendary for nothing. Certainly it experienced a little cinematographic glory thanks to Eric Serra who has a small role with this bass in the film Subway, by Luc Besson (come on see the sequence here, if you are curious).
Above all, it’s super fun to play! The microphones are precise and rich. It is also quite widespread in the world of jazz.
I love it, even if I’m not a fan of the look.
