Epiphone Lucille BB King Guitar

Overview of this Epiphone Lucille BB King

Here is a pretty legendary guitar!!
The Esprit Guitare lutherie workshop received a visit from this legendary guitar, here in its Epiphone Lucille BB King version. Called Lucille after the name of a bar worker who started a fight that caused a fire that almost cost BB King his life, this guitar has seen many versions since.

This one went to the workshop for a replacement of the original pickups with the famous Seymour Duncan SH2/SH4 humbucker duo.

Work completed

The difficulty with these hollow body guitars is often access to the electronics through the sound holes. Here, this problem does not arise because Gibson (brand representing Epiphone), in its great leniency, has given us an access opening from the rear, traditional on many electric guitars.

Rewiring and installing these new humbuckers, then. We take the opportunity to repair a breakdown in part of the electronics.

The complete overhaul followed: cleaning and polishing the body, checking the fret leveling, polishing the frets, checking the mechanics and screws, installing new strings and complete adjustment.
Here it is ready!

Conclusion

Replacing the original microphones on this Epiphone model is a real change!
In this new configuration, the Lucille really takes on its full potential. It breathes, it’s warm, it’s round, it’s deep and powerful. And the versatility of these microphones is fully expressed thanks to the original varitone which is very effective!
A real pleasure 🙂
