Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy Guitar
A magnificent Gretsch G9500 new one went to Esprit Guitare 😉
Barely delivered to its owner and presto, straight to the workshop 😉
Yes, I’ve said it and I’ll say it again, a new guitar can be adjusted. Especially purchased remotely.
Overview of the Gretsch G9500
So I love atypical guitars. And there, frankly, I am served 🙂
This guitar has a first particularity, it is its diapason. It’s a short scale: 24″ (610 mm). For comparison, a Fender will have a scale of 647.7 mm. And it changes a lot of things, notably the tension of the strings.
Next, this guitar has a look that is both “roots” and refined. Root with its ultra basic head and its very symmetrical and refined shape with its elegant coat and its matte varnish (be careful, it’s a varnish that requires very clean hands… 😉 ).
Work completed
On the work side, we are on a new guitar. So we are sure fine tuning. No repair, no polishing of the frets (well, I still gave it a little dent because I like it when it shines ;-)). No fret leveling necessary on this well-made model.
The adjustment consisted of lower the action playing on the truss rod, a little about the nut and a lot on the bridge nut which was rather high. On the intonation side, it is managed directly by the original compensated nut.
Obviously, a little cleaning was essential after the work (yes, matte varnish marks quickly).
Conclusion
Once these fine adjustments are made, it is a super pleasant guitar to play. The short neck requires a little adjustment time but the sound is great! It sounds raw, “roots”, basic! Very bluesy!
I love this little, easy to carry instrument.
And the finish is perfect. It’s Gretsch!
