Takamine G series guitar

Overview of this Takamine G series

Well, ok, it’s a model that has already been seen and reviewed…

But you still have to admit that she has a good face! This pretty Takamine G series came to get a makeover at the Esprit Guitare workshop.

In fact, nothing special to report. This is a simple revision.

Work completed

We left for the revision / adjustment combo that you know by heart, now… Right?

Ok, let me detail:

We start by taking stock of the current settings. This will allow you to return to the original setting or at least correct the setting if it needs to be modified. I know this thanks to the discussion I have before work, with the owner. It is during this discussion that he explains to me exactly what he expects from his instrument. It depends on tastes, the style of music played, the level, etc. It’s an open discussion during which we will determine by mutual agreement the type of adjustment to apply to the guitar (or bass, but this is a guitar).

Then, I remove the strings and I start by taking care of the neck: cleaning the fingerboard, cleaning and checking the frets (one by one…), checking the fret leveling (if there are small adjustments to be made, I do them. If it’s too important, I will report it to the owner for a future project, but it will inevitably impact the settings). Then I move on to polishing the frets and moisturizing the fingerboard. For this, I use a mixture of natural oils of my composition.

The next step is checking the screws and mechanics (with lubrication, if necessary). Stripping and polishing of all metal parts. If there are electronics, I also do dusting and checking.

Then, I move on to cleaning (with a good scrubbing beforehand, in general). Here again, I use environmentally friendly products (variable depending on the finish of the instrument). the objective is to remove all stains or traces of grease, to shine, to check the entirety of the adhesions and to track down possible cracks.

A good vacuuming inside the box and I pass my endoscopic camera to check the stickings and dams inside. Here again, I look for cracks or fissures.

Next, I put on a set of new strings (the gauge of which can vary depending on the owner’s tastes) and the most important part: the tuning.

It is not simply a matter of tuning the guitar, but of ensuring that its geometry is optimal according to the owner’s wishes: action, curvature of the neck, intonation (for instruments whose intonation can be adjusted). This is a step that must be carried out with a lot of diligence and you have to take the time.

Then, I move on to the test, which sometimes leads me to review the setting.

Finally, one last wipe with a cloth to shine (and erase the fingerprints, haha! 😉 ).

Last steps: the photo session to be able to offer you these items, and invoicing.

This type of complete overhaul should be planned once or twice a year, depending on your use of the instrument and the care you give it.

Conclusion

This beautiful Takamine G series, although classic, complied with this revision with passivity. She came out all dapper. Very pleasant to play, beautiful sounds. Very good guitar.
