The Esprit Guitare violin workshop received a visit from this splendid bass ESP LTD B-205SM in her See Thru Black Satin dress (STBLKS for short), for a little review.

No particular problem for this beautiful beast. Just a good cleaning and a big adjustment to make it really nice.

Work completed

We start with a good cleaning and polishing, to see more clearly. Dismantling of the strings, the neck, disassembly, cleaning and reassembly of the bridge, checking the electronics, checking the screws and mechanics and we move on to the neck. Fret leveling, polishing of the frets, hydration and maintenance of the fingerboard, pre-stressing of the truss rod and reassembly on the body. Alignment and overturn control. We can pull up the ropes! And we move on to adjusting the action and intonation, by adjusting the truss rod and the saddles vertically and horizontally. One last little adjustment to the height of the microphones and we’re good to go for a try 🙂

Conclusion

And BIM!! It sounds super precise, even on the big B string!! Nothing drooling. A sound sharp as a scalpel. The electronics are really at the service of the instrument: the knobs are effective throughout the entire travel, no hiss, no buzz. Great sound!
The neck is a highway. Soft and quick, I love it!
