Squier Jazz Bass

An elegant bass Squier Jazz Bass came to get a makeover at Esprit Guitare 😉
This is a fairly common model, but each has its own particularities.

Introducing the Squier Jazz Bass

This one is not very recent, but it is in very good condition. The mechanics did not suffer from oxidation, as is often the case in Martinique. The bridge and faceplate were not so lucky. The frets are not super flat, but nothing unusual on an instrument of this category. The stock, on the other hand, needs serious improvement.
Special feature of this bass: it is mounted with flat threads.

Work completed

Most of the work was focused on the adjustment, in order to make it easier to play.
But everything in its time 😉 We start with a good cleaning, especially of the bridge and the plate, which are quite oxidized, so as to restore their shine as good as possible.

Then, the neck: a good cleaning of the fingerboard was essential, as is often the case. Then a partial fret leveling to put everyone back on the same level. Finally, polishing the frets, for shine. We don’t forget hydration and maintenance of the fingerboard.

The adjustment can begin: after having reassembled the strings (with flat thread, therefore, for those who follow ;-)) adjustment of the truss rod (it was completely relaxed!) and the saddles in the two axes for action and intonation. Note in the photos the alignment of the cylinder axis at the end of the strings, on the bridge side. It’s one of the many little touches Esprit Guitare 😉

The considerable adjustment of the action required adjustment of the height of the microphones, as a result.

Conclusion

Here it is ready!
When empty, comfort is much better. the strings do not curl and the notes are in tune, all along the neck.
Once connected, the sound is clean, precise and the flat wound strings provide a warm roundness that is quite attractive 🙂
