A splendid Crafter SA went to Esprit Guitare 😉

Overview of this Crafter SA

It’s a really special guitar, from several points of view. First of all, she is very pretty ;-). Then, it is a “hollow body”, that is to say it is hollow (like a folk or a classic) but with a body the thickness of an electric guitar. Finally, it is equipped with two microphones of different technologies: magnetic (like the electric ones) and piezzo under the bridge (like the electro acoustic folk).

This one spent several years abandoned. This was a refurbishment and a good overhaul so the owner could decide what to do with it.

Work completed

A big cleaning to start, we can see more clearly afterwards. Then we take stock of the situation. First observation, the preamp no longer works. Then, maintenance and hydration of the fingerboard, polishing of the frets, check of the fret leveling, check of the mechanics, adjustment of the neck, installation of new strings and fine adjustment.

Conclusion

Surprisingly, it still rings without plugging it in. Not very strong, but still.
It will have to go back through the workshop for two reasons: the preamp which is broken and which will be complicated to replace/repair, and then finally the owner wants to switch it to right-handed… It’s a choice… We’ll see in a future episode what that implies in terms of lutherie.
