This splendid Lag Arkane 1000 East already gone through the Esprit Guitare workshop. Remember, it was September 2021, a little over a year ago. At that time, my articles were succinct 😉

So here she is back because the frets were really starting to be a problem.
Too worn, the hollowest frets lower the angle of inclination of the strings on the neck and the strings brush against the downstream frets, causing parasitic noises commonly called « friezes ». They say it borders on…

On this one, we were able to correct the problem last year by redoing a partial fret leveling to correct some shrinkage defects. But the owner is a musician who plays. And who plays a lot. So the wear of the frets has only increased.

Only option at this level: replacing the frets.

Work completed

Let’s go for a refret: disassembly of the neck, disassembly of the frets, preparation of the fingerboard, and the fret slots. Preparation of new frets, installation of new frets, fret leveling, finishing of the ends of the frets.
Then, we can check the geometry: reassembly of the neck, measurement, adjustment of the head nut.

We take the opportunity to replace the central microphone for a different model.

And then, we put on new strings, new adjustment for the new frets and off we go!

Conclusion

It’s still an awesome guitar!!
And with its new frets and new central pickup, it sounds even better!!
