This old lady (Martin D-41) from Martin Guitar arrived at the Esprit Guitare workshop for a little facelift, after having spent some time hidden in an attic…

This pretty veteran apparently belonged to Eric Clapton. The research I was able to do in this direction did not allow me to be certain, but the model, the year and the serial number still provide strong positive presumptions.
Well, at the same time, given the astronomical quantity of guitars that Clapton may have owned, it wouldn’t be the scoop of the century either.

Work completed

A good review, then.
The most to fear was the state of the mechanics. Indeed, the objective was to keep as many of the original parts as possible, in order to preserve all of its value (and then to waste less, too).
The mechanics were able to be recovered without problem.
The overhaul package has been there (it’s okay, I’m not going to detail it for you yet, am I?) and the beauty has found a new lease of life.

Conclusion

We know Martin’s reputation well. They are people who love the beautiful guitar. And they know how to do that very well.

This is a very beautiful and very old guitar that has an astonishing depth of sound. Very beautiful richness of the spectrum, particularly in the low mids, which gives it a warm and velvety character.
