“The Simpsons” Guitar!!

Introducing this “The Simpsons” guitar

Wow!

Well, we’re not going to lie, it’s a big surprise that arrived at the Esprit Guitare workshop! A very good surprise, indeed!

This “The Simpsons” guitar is sold by a large online sales brand (whose name I will not mention so as not to dirty your screen) in the toy section… (well, I still put the link because I found no trace of it elsewhere…).

So it’s Homer Simpson and a slogan “Never too old to Rock! » which decorate this guitar. Homer, I love… And the slogan, for non-English speakers, means “Never too old for Rock!” » and that suits me very well 🙂
Apart from these trivial considerations, the guitar was in poor condition when it arrived. Mission: to restore it.

Work completed

We start by cutting a new nut. The original one is broken. We also glue back part of the bridge nut.
Then, disassembly of the mechanics. I didn’t know if I would be able to get them back, but against all odds, yes. It’s cool. It’s good quality and has withstood abuse well…

Then, the overhaul combo: deep cleaning, hydration and maintenance of the fingerboard (just painted black…), polishing of the frets, lubrication and reassembly of the tuners, installation of new strings (D’Addario, for those who follow 😉 ) and we will be able to try the thing!

Conclusion

Beyond the fun side of this guitar and its look that I love, we are still dealing with a real instrument. It sounds very good, the playing comfort is there. It’s a real guitar!
And it Rock’s!!
(and maybe she will live a long time 🙂 )
