Overview of this Ibanez RoadGear

l’Ibanez RoadGear is an atypical bass. This one came to get a makeover at the Esprit Guitare lutherie workshop. It is a bass created and developed under license Seymour Duncan. So I’ll let you guess the brand of microphones that equip this little gem.
This one is in pretty good condition, but hasn’t been serviced for a while… for sure… So it’s here for a complete check-up and restart.

Work completed

Big cleaning, then, to start. Then polishing, maintenance and hydration of the fingerboard, control of fret leveling and polishing of the frets. Then check the screws and mechanics, dismantle and clean the easel.
Afterwards, we move on to the electronics: checking the soldering, removing dust, checking the potentiometers, testing the microphones and cleaning the jack socket.
Finally, we put on new strings, and we move on to the adjustment: tension and curvature of the neck, position of the saddles for optimal action, and adjustment of the intonation.

Conclusion

Let’s be clear, this is not a high-end bass. But when you try it, you realize that you get what you pay for. It sounds good, the handle is comfortable, the weight is well distributed! Nothing to throw away in this jewel! 🙂
